COVID Hardship Grant

Over $100,000 in grants were given since May 2020.

The Michigan Nurses Foundation, through the generous support of the Michigan Nurses Association and community members, created a COVID Hardship Fund to recognize the sacrifices that nurses and other healthcare professionals are making during this pandemic.

The COVID Hardship Grants are a way to support MNA caregiver members in good standing with at least part of the financial cost.  There are two COVID hardship grants available:  $500 to make up for decreased income from reduced hours, or up to $500 to pay for unreimbursed relocation expenses.

The initial Fund has been exhausted and grant applications are not being accepted at this time.

If you can give help, please consider donating to the Foundation and choosing COVID Hardship Fund Donation.

Evelyn Grace Peraino Memorial Scholarship

Picture
The Evelyn Grace Foundation bequeathed funds to the Michigan Nurses Foundation Scholarship Fund in 2019.

Evelyn passed away at 3.5 months old in 2018. This scholarship is in honor of all the nurses that cared for her, the love and support consistently given to her and her family, and their genuine concern and passion for pediatric patient care.

Evelyn’s legacy will live on by helping nurses currently working in a pediatric setting to further their education with an advanced degree. To assist in reaching this goal of continuing education, a $2,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to nurses currently employed in a pediatric setting looking to further their education at a college or university in the State of Michigan.

Safe Patient Care Nursing Practice Scholarship

The Michigan Nurses Foundation is pleased to announce the Safe Patient Care Nursing Practice Scholarship. Professional healthcare conferences at the national level are outstanding opportunities for nurses to expand their knowledge of various aspects of nursing including patient care and/or fields of expertise. Additionally, conferences provide a unique opportunity to interact with nurses representing other institutions who have similar interests.  Unfortunately, the cost incurred by travel, lodging, registration, and associated expenses for these highly beneficial experiences often render the opportunity prohibitive. This scholarship is intended to defray at least a portion of such costs and thereby enable nurses to take advantage of this valuable experience.

Mrs. Leipold bequeathed funds to the Michigan Nurses Foundation Scholarship Fund in 2010. Her daughters, Becky Baldwin RN and Nancy Leipold RN, PhD, executed this bequest in 2011. This scholarship was the result of Margaret Leipold’s passion for mentoring both younger nurses and nursing students.  It was her desire to continue a love for the profession through the financial support of students. To assist in reaching their goal of becoming a nurse, a $1000 scholarship will be awarded annually to a second year associates degree nursing student enrolled in a community college in the State of Michigan.
