The Jaqueline R. Wheeler Scholarship Fund supports future nurses committed to compassionate care, with a focus on dementia, dignified end-of-life support, and healthcare roles rooted in empathy and respect.

Jaqueline R. Wheeler M.S., RN, BSN was a Professor of Nursing at Ferris State University for over three decades. Jacqueline devoted decades to guiding students not only in skill, but in empathy and integrity. She believed that nursing was as much about listening to the human heart as treating the human body, and she taught by example every day.

 

Her artistry extended beyond the classroom. A gifted fiber artist, Jacqueline transformed wool, yarn, and fabric into works of beauty, each piece telling its own quiet story. She drew much of her inspiration from nature, finding joy in a walk through the woods, the song of birds, or the shift of seasons. Which is why this endowment was created in support of nursing students with an emphasis in dementia and dignified end of life care
